Outreach
Outreach is an effort to help provide for a future generation of stamp collectors.  Too often at Club meetings (not only ours) the average age of the attendees is nearling retirement age.  The average American Philatelic Society member is over 50.

In the past, the QCSC had provided lecturers for school clubs, participated in the USPS Stamp Collecting effort at the Bettendorf Post Office, provided displays for the Rock Island Post Office lobby, and at various local libraries in the area.

On January 10, 2007, the QCSC receuved the following  I have deleted the name of the school and the name of the individual to avoid unnecessary communication.  I would ask that anyone interested in helping out with the venture contact me for further information.  Remember, we always wonder where the next generation of stamp collectors is going to come from.  This letter may answer that question.  If you can help in any way, please let me know.  George

I have started a junior stamp club here at ???????? School in Galena, Illinois.  It is composed of students in grades 4, 5 and 6.  I am looking for any information on local collectors who would be willing to come and share their knowledge with the children (about 20 of them).  I am also looking for a way to gather some inexpensive supplies, especially stamp tongs.  Thank you
